POWER PLANTS AND WATER SUPPLY

WaterBank® is involved in the siting and development of water supplies for power plants.  Our most current project is the development of a hydropower plant in Nevada under the recently enacted Renewable Power Supply Program.  We presently have 100,000 acre feet per year of non-consumptive water rights on East Fork of the Carson River near the California State Line.

WaterBank® has determined that the project is feasible from the perspective of state and federal regulatory agencies.  Title to the water rights that were adjudicated in the Alpine Decree is sound.  Present activity is focused on an engineering and economic feasibility analysis of the project.

In December 2006, WaterBank®  developed a proposal for several hydropower plants in Oklahoma, where water supply pipelines dropped more than 1,000 feet in elevation from the source of the water to its destination.

In March, 2007 WaterBank® assisted in siting a major power plant in the western United States.  The plant site required a confluence of high voltage power transmission lines and natural gas lines as well as a satisfactory supply of water.  Not only did the project need an adequate physical supply but it required legal availability of the water and hence a thorough knowledge of the physical availability of both surface and ground water, aquifer characteristics and the local legal framework.
